All proceeds from the annual VNSA Used Book Sale benefit Valley human service agencies. Since the first sale in 1957, VNSA has returned more than $8,000,000 to local nonprofit organizations in our community. Two organizations, Arizona Friends of Foster Children Foundation and Literacy Volunteers of Maricopa County, have been VNSA bbeneficiaries since 1987.
AFFCF relies entirely on community donations to promote the education, self-esteem, and enrichment of children in foster care in Arizona. AFFCF funds social, educational, and athletic activities that provide children with quality experiences while they live in difficult circumstances. Since 1984, AFFCF has awarded more than $8 million to more than 37,500 children in foster care in Arizona.
LVMC provides educational services to adults who desire to learn to read, obtain the High School Equivalency (HSE) diploma by preparing them for the General Educational Development (GED®) exam, or communicate in English.
LVMC strives to empower adults in our community to become better candidates for sustainable employment, participate in higher education or job training, and improve their quality of life.
The majority of LVMC’s students receive instruction by attending one of LVMC’s two Learning Centers that offer comprehensive services including computer-based instruction, small classes, and one-to-one tutoring. LVMC also offers a distance learning program for at individuals who cannot attend a learning center.
The growth of the VNSA Used Book Sale, and our increasing ability to support public service agencies, has been made possible by the good will and generosity of our many volunteer members, donors, supporters and loyal shoppers.
